School: University of Cincinnati (#97)
A three-year starter, with AAC Conference All-Academic Team honors to his credit (2019) and a stalwart performer in the Big 12 Conference, Eric Phillips, Jr. quickly established himself as the reliable anchor for the Cincinnati Bearcats’ Defensive Line. After 34 consecutive starts and facing countless double-teams, Eric has amassed over 80 take-downs that included nine sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and five passes defensed. He entered the University of Cincinnati as a 3-star recruit (by 247Sports and ESPN) with numerous distinctions in the State of Ohio at the conclusion of his High School Football career with the Colerain H.S. Cardinals, where he also excelled on the basketball court.
Eric possesses exceptional burst at the snap of the ball, enabling him to use his speed and flexibility to outmaneuver his opponents and disrupt offenses. His quickness off the ball and to the ball enables him to be highly effective at the edge positions despite OC efforts to scheme up help protections for the O-Line. Eric is a high-motor Defensive End capable of playing with his hand in the dirt or from a two-point stance in either a 4-3 or 3-4 base defensive set.
