Troy Rainey
Defensive Tackle/Offensive Line

Troy Rainey
Position: Defensive Tackle/Offensive Line
Height: 6′ 4″ • Weight: 300 lbs.
School: Rutgers University (#51)
Recruited out of Harding High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut as a three-star Defensive Tackle prospect by 24/7 Sports, Troy Rainey quickly demonstrated his athleticism and versatility by making the first seven starts of his collegiate career as an Offensive Lineman in his Redshirt Freshman season with the Power-5/Big10 Rutgers Football program. A multi-sport athlete in high school, Troy uses strong hands developed as a wrestler, a low center of gravity, and leverage to dominate his opponent whether it be on the offensive or defensive side of the ball. His quick feet and exceptional speed at 300+ pounds gets him into backfields to disrupt offenses when playing the 1-Technique or 3-Technique positions on the D-Line, and enables him to be an efficient pulling Guard to lead blocks and/or get up to the defense’s second level when playing on the offensive side of the ball.
Troy’s versatility enabled the Rutgers Scarlet Knights coaching staff to maintain a winning, bowl eligible team throughout his career, as they were able to slide him into positions based on team need and match-ups within the Big10 Conference without compromising competitive efficacy. It is noteworthy that his first start on the Offensive Line at Guard (a position for which he was not primarily recruited) occurred against the Michigan Wolverines as a Freshman, which is a testament to the trust and confidence the coaching staff has in his abilities. At present, Troy remains ready to participate and develop in whatever role he is asked to contribute as a professional.
